Vinney had a meeting on campus Friday morning and I was going to drop her off so she wouldn't have to park the car in a faraway lot and walk to the meeting. The meeting itself wasn't going to last too long (less than an hour) so I took my laptop with me to write up Part 2 of my Half Life 2 series.

I pulled up beside the law school, cracked the window open (it was a nice 66F that day) and began typing away. Now I sit fairly close to the steering wheel (anyone who's had any track experience knows why) so I slid my seat back and reclined a bit to get in a comfortable typing position.

The street I was parked on was a one way street, and I was parked on the right hand side of the street. On the left hand side there was a Chevy Cavalier parked several feet behind a fire hydrant, and then another car in front of the fire hydrant. Obviously, there's no parking directly in front of the fire hydrant.

A massive pickup truck drives by and tries to parallel park between the two aforementioned cars, directly in front of the fire hydrant. Now when I say massive, I'm talking Ford F150 or F350 massive. So this massive truck tries to parallel park between the two cars, I was taking a small break from looking at my laptop so I managed to watch him parallel park. He came very close to hitting both cars but somehow managed it; impressive, I thought, and I went back to my work. He left for a while and came back and I didn't see him get into his car, but I definitely saw him smack his tow hitch into the front bumper of the Cavalier behind him before speeding away.

I didn't have enough time to catch the make and model of the car, but I got his license plate...which I gave to the owner of the car when he came out to feed the meter about 20 minutes later. Sure enough, the tow hitch on the truck left a nice gash in the center of the guy's front bumper.

I don't have to spell out the moral of this story, I just hope the guy gets him; I hate when people do things like this to other people's property and don't face the music.

In other news, I played a decent amount of Half Life 2 today - and through my SLI play testing I managed to come up with an interesting benchmark for HL2...we'll see if I can get it to be something meaningful.

For now, it's definitely worktime for me.
